I enjoyed designing non-human characters and experimenting with showing personality in new ways. It was challenging to balance functionality of the design, client needs, and copywriter accuracy, but I was glad to have help from a team. Overall I was exited to be able to gain experience in character design for real client work.

 

After brainstorming multiple character profiles, I took the descriptions and created mood boards, explored character themes and studied color palettes. Each character had as many as 5 to 20 idealizations. After meeting with the animator and copywriters, some characters were scrapped, and final designs were chosen.

For color schemes and backgrounds I took inspiration from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and sewer imagery.
